We are happy to announce our latest retail partner located in your own backyard! Brother’s Pizza of Howard (Howard, PA) just joined our growing family of retailers! Located a short drive from Penn State University, this bank turned pizza shop is a popular dining attraction in the Bald Eagle Valley.
As the son of Guatemalan immigrants, restaurant owner Yancy Sagastume recognizes the needs present in developing countries and has shared our vision for long-term sustainability. Yancy has been instrumental in networking within the Central PA community to raise funds and secure supplies for medical teams, led by Melton Trading Co. founder Daniel Melton. The medical teams travel into remote villages in the mountains of Honduras where access to medical treatment is virtually non-existent. Yancy has traveled with these groups to serve as a volunteer translator, bridging the gap between those needing medical assistance and the medical teams.
But Yancy’s determination to help his home region doesn’t simply stop with fundraising and volunteering his time. Perpetuating his late father’s legacy, Yancy and Daniel envision opening a pizza shop in the mountainous region of San Luis, Santa Barbara. Their mission is not to open this pizza shop for personal profit but to partner with the local community, provide livable wages to workers, and generate profits that will be reinvested into the local medical clinic and other programs based in the San Luis area. Just like the mission of Melton Trading Co., the mission of the new venture is to continue to help a growing community and enable local residents to achieve long-term sustainability.
